The weather was no help again today. The little bit of creativity that I had tonight helped me decide to make a snoot out of a cereal box. After cutting off the wide side of the box and wrapping it around a small soup can, I was able to staple the snoot seam together and fit it over my Speedlite. Since I’m still shooting with the flash on top of my XSi camera body, it took me a few shots to figure out the framing and exposure compensation which would best give me the spotlight effect I was going after.
On a side note, these flowers have been a great subject for me. They have lasted a week so far and are finally beginning to lose their petals tonight. I have to say they are quite fun to take pictures of, especially macro pictures. Maybe I can use the excuse of more flowers, more often, for my finance so that I can justify the purchase of a macro lens. Although, I am going to be adding the new PocketWizard’s (MiniTT1 and FlexTT5)to my wish list in the day or two so I can get more creative with my lighting. Maybe I’ll even become a Strobist one of these days. We’ll see which new toy(s) sound better over the next few weeks.
A self-proclaimed tech-geek, I enjoy anything powered by batteries or electricity. I'm not happy until I understand the full potential of any new gadget I get my hands on....
