My fiancee and I went to George Mason University today to pick up her text books for the upcoming semester. On our walk from the parking garage to the University book store, which is, interestingly enough, owned by Barnes and Noble, we came across this statue. It had been dressed up by the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha. I thought this was quite amusing, especially since I have several friends who were in Zeta Tau Alpha when we were at Virginia Tech. Jaclyn, my fiancee, now tells me that she sees this statue dressed up all the time on campus now that classes have started for her. She thinks it is a tradition at GMU. Does anyone know if there is a background story to this practice?
