My brother was slicing some pepperoni this afternoon so that we could put it on our left over pizza for lunch.  I thought there was an interesting picture there somewhere.  I used the 50mm lens with the widest aperture possible in so that I did not have to use flash.

Mmmm, Easter Brunch.  Eggs, bear claw pastries, candies, and more.  I thought I would snap a few pictures before the family tore into the meal.

This is a typical snack for me at night while I am away from home and staying in a hotel.  These vegetable gyoza are relatively healthy and low in calories.  They are also quite colorful.  I decided to try and capture them in a photograph tonight.  I used a single, remotely triggered, flash bouncing into two of the white pillows from the bed to light the scene.

I guess you can tell what was laying around the hotel room tonight?!

iPhone @ f/2.8

It is settled.  The next cell phone that I get MUST have a better camera in it.  I tried to carry the Leica point and shoot around with me every where that I went, but being that it does not fit into any of my pockets due to its size it was like I was carrying a murse (man-purse).  The camera in my almost two-year old iPhone 3G just does not cut it, indoors or out.  The focus is barley ever correct for one.  I know this is fixed in the iPhone 3Gs, but being so close to a probable June announcement for the next version of the iPhone, I would be silly to upgrade right now.  Hopefully, the next version will have a camera that at least mathces the Verizon Droid’s or Goggle’s Nexus One cameras (5 megapixels each), both with touch to focus functionality.

Apple’s Shadow

I swear there is a shadow in this photograph!  At least it was there on my MacBook Pro when I was editing the photo.  However, it seems now that I am typing this entry from the iMac computer in our office, the shadow is much less visible.  This validates the suggestions by many professionals to always do your photo editing on the same computer and in the same lighting conditions.

I Shouldn’t, But I Will

I snapped this picture tonight using my iPhone in a very dimly lit Italian restaurant.  After indulging in some appetizers, a great main dish of white fish, and two bottles of wine (shared with my fiancee and two friends, of course), I topped the meal off with a scotch and a few bites of my fiancee’s dessert captured here.  Maybe I should think about hitting the gym tomorrow to work some of it off!

I was in a rush tonight to get over to my friend’s house to watch the UFC fight from Saturday night on his DVR.  I made some onion dip to bring over to the small gathering of guys.  I have yet to find an onion dip which tastes better than plain old Campbell’s onion soup mix combined with sour cream.

My fiancee and I had a nice sit down, away from the television, dinner tonight.  The final course was ultimate white cake from Wegmans.  It looked and smelled so tasty that I found it difficult to concentrate on getting a photograph.  I have been doing a lot more available light photography over the past couple of weeks.  I attribute this to laziness mostly.  Unfortunately, I have had a lot of other things on my mind lately and it has been distracting me from the 365 project.  With only a few months left, I hope to finish strong and put what I have learned over the last year to good use.

Hotel Life: Midnight Snack

Tonight I took a walk around the floors of the Marriott hotel looking for an interesting subject to capture for the project.  The vending machine on the first floor, outside of the gym believe it or not, wound up being my target for the night.  The single light in the vending machine offered interesting lighting on the bags of chips and other goodies found inside.  I enhanced the effect slightly by adding a vignette in post processing.
