Today’s photography is of a photograph.  My fiancee’s and my engagement photos were delivered to us by Ron Soliman in this beautiful “leather” framed DVD case.  Inset on the cover is a small print out of one of our photographs.

I highly recommend Ron if you are in need of a wedding or event photographer.  His services have been worth every penny so far.  Reach out to me or leave a comment below if you want to know more.

Typically when you walk by a vending machine in the Philadelphia region you see a variety of Tastykake  snacks to indulge on.  However, in this particular frozen foods vending machine items such as this BIG AZ BubbaTwins are available for purchase.  Are we certain that is appropriate for a nationwide corporation work environment?

A few months back I was on a kick using Lego figurines for the Photo365 project.  My fiancee was nice enough to swing by the Lego store in Tyson’s Corner, VA to pick me up some more pieces.  The box she wound up getting is full of random heads, torsos, legs and accessories.  Tonight I planned on using at least one new Lego-man, but when I opened the box and saw the hundreds of tiny pieces with very little sorting rhyme or reason, I promptly changed my mind.

Tonight I continued to play around and get to know my 100mm f/2.8L macro lens some more.  The subject getting the close up treatment tonight was my Microsoft Arc mouse.  Because the color image was lacking interesting colors, I decided to process this photograph as a black and white.  I used a preset called Matt’s Sin City: Dark Red by Matt Kloskowski.

Another night in the hotel room had me scratching my head for a subject to photograph.  Tonight I turned to my work cell phone for the first time.  I liked the light that the desk lamp was shining onto the device from above.  I chose a low angle in relation to the subject in order to show the dynamic changes in light across the nooks and crannies.

I Shouldn’t, But I Will

I snapped this picture tonight using my iPhone in a very dimly lit Italian restaurant.  After indulging in some appetizers, a great main dish of white fish, and two bottles of wine (shared with my fiancee and two friends, of course), I topped the meal off with a scotch and a few bites of my fiancee’s dessert captured here.  Maybe I should think about hitting the gym tomorrow to work some of it off!

I am still WAY behind on getting my project photographs processed and uploaded to both Flickr and this site.  I am going to push hard over the next week to see how much progress I can make.  This probably means much shorter write ups, but I do not think many people actually make the trip over to the blog from Twitter, Facebook, or Flickr.

This is another picture that leaves me disappointed with the low light performance of the Canon 7D.  From what I have heard, some of the Nikon DSLR bodies can practically take pictures in the dark with less noise than the Canon 7D put into this frame!

Hotel Life: Toiletries

I am back in the hotel again for this week.  I am beginning to think that I might do a mini-project within my Photo365 project capturing “Life in a Hotel”.  It may wind up that I am staying in a hotel more frequently this year, so I should have amble opportunities to get some good shots.

This is a photograph of the bathroom toiletries provided at the Marriott I am staying in.  The staff at this particular Marriott does a great job in making sure even the little things are perfect in the room.  They never miss a beat in replacing any used items in this bathroom amenities kit on a daily basis.

There is nothing special here photographically speaking.  Just another ambient-lit product shot.
